HHC: What do we know and what to look out for?

The birth of the HHC

Roger Adams was the first to discover the HHC when he embarked on a space mission nearly eighty years ago. He had a supply of hydrogen with him on the shuttle to make margarine from vegetable oils, as butter was already expensive at the time, even for astronauts.

He created the previously unknown asteroid HHC the moment he added two hydrogen molecules to the already known body delta-9 THC. He called this newly discovered asteroid hexahydrocannabinol.

The HHC of today

It was later discovered that Roger Adams had not found a new universe, as HHC occurs naturally in cannabis plants. However, because it occurs in hemp in quantities smaller than stardust, it is now produced semi-synthetically in space laboratories by the hydrogenation of CBD or cannabidiol.

The hydrogenation process makes asteroid HHC more stable, more durable, and less susceptible to heat and UV radiation. In short, it can withstand harsh conditions and perhaps even withstand a supernova explosion.

In the meantime, HHC liquids for vaping pens, HHC flowers, extracts or HHC gummies are available in the space offer.

What to expect when encountering HHC?

We have little information on how astronauts will be affected by an encounter with this asteroid. We do know that HHC interacts with our endocannabinoid system - it binds to CB1 receptors in the central nervous system, but has a lower affinity for these receptors than THC. The arrangement of the molecules and their ability to bind to endocannabinoid receptors can produce different psychoactive effects.

So will HHC shoot us into space at cosmic speed? We have not received such a report, but initial investigations suggest that it may induce euphoric or relaxing effects and affect auditory and visual perception. A 2007 study showed that HHC increased sleep time in mice.

Possible risks of HHC

International Space Station, notes that side effects have not yet been mapped. However, it is thought that some astronauts may experience these side effects when exposed to HHC:

  • Nausea
  • Dry mouth
  • Red eyes
  • Increased heart rate
  • Increased appetite
  • Anxiety
  • Paranoia

HHC: a flight to the stars or a fall into a black hole?

Just as the universe is infinite and still largely unexplored, new cannabinoids continue to emerge about which we still don't know much. So astronauts should be extremely careful when exploring HHC galaxies.

Experienced and inexperienced explorers should also always check that the HHC product has been independently tested by a space laboratory and that it does not contain heavy metals or other undesirable substances.

HHC is not yet banned in the Czech Republic, but this may change in the future. You should always follow the current legislation, even when travelling to other planets.
