What is 10-OH-HHCP and how is it formed? Born in the HHCP galaxy
Where the Milky Way and the Andromeda galaxy lie, in the region where new stars are actively forming, we encounter the HHCP galaxy that gave rise to the 10-OH-HHCP.
The compound 10-OH-HHCP (10-hydroxy-hexahydrocannabichol) is a modified version of HHCP (hexahydrocannabichol), namely a hydroxy derivative of HHCP. And HHCP is a derivative of hexahydrocannabinol (HHC).
10-OH-HHCP is born exclusively in laboratories and results from the oxidation of HHCP by the cytochrome P450 enzyme, which is mainly found in the liver.
In this process, a hydroxyl group (-OH) is added to the tenth position of the HHCP molecule. This group consists of one oxygen atom covalently bonded to one hydrogen atom.
This process improves the solubility of the substance and also affects how it will eventually bind to receptors in the endocannabinoid system (ECS). In short, it changes the cosmic nature of the molecule.
Zone of effects 10-OH-HHCP
10-OH-HHCP is likely to produce effects comparable to tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) and other cannabinoids such as HHC or HHCP.
It appears to bind effectively to CB1 receptors (in the brain, central nervous system) in the ECS, which explains why it is psychoactive.
The International Space Station notes that there is currently no research on exactly how 10-OH-HHCP interacts with receptors in the ECS and what effects it has.
10-OH-HHCP, like other psychoactive cannabinoids such as HHC, HHCP, THCP, THCB, THCJD, can affect perception, induce feelings of euphoria, relaxation or increase appetite.
How is 10-OH-HHCP metabolized?
10-OH-HHCP can be further metabolised in the liver by enzymes of the cytochrome P450 family to produce a variety of metabolites, including inactive ones.
When 10-OH-HHCP is taken orally, more inactive metabolites may be formed compared to other routes of consumption such as vaporisation or sublingual administration. For this reason, the method will influence what effects it will have.
Since the space archive lacks research on 10-OH-HHCP, it is not clear what metabolic processes it undergoes and what metabolites are produced.
In 2024, a study on HHC appeared in the archives to determine what specific metabolites are formed during metabolism and how quickly HHC is eliminated from the body.
The results of the study showed that HHC is processed in liver cells (hepatocytes) through various metabolic pathways, including oxidation and conjugation (a process in which small molecules such as glucuronide, sulfate, glycine or glutathione attach to the metabolised substances, increasing water solubility and facilitating the elimination of substances from the body).
Probably 10-OH-HHCP has a low bioavailability and breaks down quickly in the body, like a meteor that flies through the atmosphere and quickly disappears. This is called the body's 'short half-life' - the time during which the concentration of cannabinoids in the blood is halved by metabolism and excretion.
Galactic alert: Side effects of 10-OH-HHCP
Currently, even in the endless space archives, there are no studies that examine the side effects of 10-OH-HHCP. However, one can rely on findings with other psychoactive cannabinoids that may cause side effects in some astronauts, such as:
- red eyes and dry eyes
- dry mouth
- Sleepiness
- headache
- increased heart rate
- Dizziness
- Insomnia
- negative psychological effects (anxiety, paranoia, hallucinations)
Intergalactic comparison of the cannabinoids 10-OH-HHCP, 10-OH-HHC and 8-OH-HHC
In our last article, we visited 10-OH-HHC, a cannabinoid that rose from stardust. Scientists managed to isolate it from the cannabis plant (Cannabis sativa L.) along with other oxygenated cannabinoids in 2015. 10-OH-HHC is a derivative of HHC and is produced in a similar way to 10-OH-HHCP. The compound 8-OH-HHC is produced in animals, including humans, by metabolising HHC.
The following intergalactic comparison of cannabinoids describes the similarities/differences between 10-OH-HHCP, 10-OH-HHC and 8-OH-HHC.

Legality, safety and supply of 10-OH-HHCP products on planet Earth
Although the International Space Station has issued a statement that research is necessary to assess the safety of 10-OH-HHCP products, the terrestrial supply is expanding like the universe after the big bang.
While questions about safety remain unanswered at the moment, interest in 10-OH-HHCP is skyrocketing, with the most common purchases by earthlings being 10-OH-HHCP vapes and cartridges, liquids, flowers, pre-rolls, hash and gummies.
Commonly available products usually contain less than 0.2-0.3% THC, thus meeting the Planet Earth Code and being legal. However, the situation is more complicated, and at the moment a haze of uncertainty surrounds the legal status of 10-OH-HHCP - it may be in a legal grey area in many countries.
When travelling to new galaxies, always prefer trusted and reputable companies that have their products tested by independent laboratories. Some vendors will have a published "Certificate of Analysis" (COA) directly posted or available for you to request.
So, before you go wandering off into space, make sure products are free of unsuitable ingredients such as fillers, toxins, heavy metals, pesticides and other potentially harmful substances.
End of expedition
10-OH-HHCP is a hydroxy derivative of HHCP, which is formed by oxidation of HHCP with the help of the liver enzyme cytochrome P450. During this biochemical reaction, a hydroxyl group (-OH) is attached to the tenth carbon of the hexahydrocannabiphorole nucleus.
Still, there is no research in the space archive on how 10-OH-HHCP works and what its safety is.
Hydroxyderivatives can be assumed to have low bioavailability and rapid metabolic breakdown in the body. They are rapidly processed and excreted by the body, which affects not only the potency but also the duration of the effects.
10-OH-HHCP has psychoactive effects and may affect perception, induce feelings of euphoria, relaxation or increase appetite.
Approach similar substances with caution and respect.10-OH-HHCP is suitable for more experienced astronauts who have already completed a few missions into space. If you are just starting out and have no experience, choose CBD, CBN, CBG, CBC, possibly H4CBD and CBDP.
Never operate a spacecraft or other spacecraft or attempt interstellar flight after taking substances with psychoactive properties.
